Another busy Saturday across the Girls Pathway, with our U10s, U12s and U16 Bravehearts all in action.
SWF East Region U10s
BSYFC U10s v Fairmuir U10s
A tougher match this morning against strong opposition, but the girls continue to improve every week.
Every player showed brilliant determination and never stopped fighting from the firstwhistle to the last. The effort, energy and commitment were excellent throughout a challenging match, with plenty of teamwork and resilience on show.
Player of the Match: Lexi – excellent effort in goals and some cracking saves.
Thank you to Eilish, Lena and Emilia, who were this week’s photographers.
SWF East Region U12s
Dundee West Reds v BSYFC
A fantastic game from the girls today against a strong Dundee West side.
There was some excellent link-up play, lots ofhard work and great attitude across the team.
Player of the Match: Zosia – wonderful attitude and caused the Dundee West defence real problems throughout. Fantastic performance, well done! ⚽
SWF East Region U16 Lucy Hope League
Brechin CC 2–2 BSYFC
The U16 Bravehearts made the long trip to Brechin for their third away game in a row, proudly wearing their new black and pink away kit, kindly sponsored by The Cross Group
Brechin provided a very different challenge on a large, bobbly grass pitch, with the home side looking to play direct and make the match physical.
Breadalbane continued to try and play their own football, keeping the ball on the ground and looking to use the pace of Nicole and Lexie, with Holly pulling the strings in midfield.
Brechin opened the scoring, but the Bravehearts responded well. Bella charged down a clearance and the ball fell to Nicole, who held off the defender and finished calmly into the corner to make it 1–1.
Unfortunately, Brechin regained the lead shortly before half-time after a mix-up at the back allowed their winger to break through
HT: Brechin 2–1 BSYFC
The second half showed the real character of this squad. Within seconds of the restart, Heidi produced a brave and outstanding save at the feet of a Brechin attacker, which seemed to spark the whole team into life.
From there, the Bravehearts lifted the tempo and began to really compete. Every player showed more physicality, determination and belief, and chances started to come.
The equaliser arrived after Bella was brought down in the box. With all the pressure on her shoulders, Nicole stepped up and calmly drilled the penalty into the bottom corner.
With the score at 2–2, the girls pushed hard for a winner. Eilidh drove forward from defence, Ruby, Amelia K, Emeri and Heidi dealt well with Brechin’s attacks, while Lexie, Nicole, Ellie, Katie, Holly and Bella continued to create problems going forward.
The match became increasingly physical and frustrating at times, but the girls kept battling and showed excellent togetherness right to the final whistle.
Full time: Brechin CC 2–2 BSYFC
A well-earned draw away to our most distant opponents, and coming from behind twice says everything about the spirit of this group.
Player of the Week: Emeri – listened carefully to the points raised before kick-off, adapted brilliantly and showed real fight and enthusiasm throughout. Well done, Emeri!
A great team performance full of bravery, determination and unity. We go again next week away to Kirriemuir.
Come on the Bravehearts! ⚽
