DDYFA U16 League
BSYFC 2010 5–0 Carnoustie Panmure 2010
After a challenging run of results despite some strong performances, it was great to see the team rewarded with a convincing victory and a five star performance.
Carnoustie started brightly, looking to use the wide areas, but Breadalbane’s defence stood firm. Finlay H and Gojus combined well at the back, supported by Rhys and Ru G tracking back effectively. Behind them, Joel produced an outstanding performance in goal, making several excellent saves and distributing the ball confidently to launch attacks.
Breadalbane were the dominant side throughout, with Callum and Finlay B causing constant problems up front. Ru M and Robert were particularly dangerous down the left, linking up well and driving the team forward, while Rhys controlled the midfield and spread play effectively.
The breakthrough came from two well-delivered corners by Robert. The first was glanced home cleverly by Ru M, while the second resulted in an own goal under pressure to give Breadalbane a 2–0 lead at half-time.
With memories of Carnoustie’s late comeback in the previous meeting still fresh, the team knew the second half required focus. The strong bench allowed fresh legs without disrupting the rhythm of the side.
The third goal came when Finlay D battled into the box to win a penalty, which Callum converted confidently. Shortly afterwards Robert won and converted another penalty to make it 4–0.
The final goal came following another powerful run from Callum, whose cross was deflected into Robert’s path for a well-taken finish to complete a 5–0 win.
Selecting Player of the Match was difficult with several standout performances. Joel was excellent in goal, Robert created chances throughout, and Callum led the line tirelessly.
Player of the Match: Ru M – took his goal well and worked tirelessly breaking up attacks and linking play in midfield.
Great performance from the team and a deserved result.
