All our teams other than the U15s in action this weekend with Jeanfield Swifts Community Football Club the opposition in a number of matches.
The U10 Girls were on the road yet again on Saturday morning as they faced Fair City Junior FC on the South Inch. The match was played in excellent spirits and this team are playing some real eye-catching, free scoring football. Cayla was awarded Player of the Week for her all round display.
The U14 Girls also travelled to Perth to play Jeanfield in the League Cup. A real tough assignment given the opponents play two divisions above and are a year older. Our Girls are as resilient as you could wish for and their attitude is first class. Jeanfield ran out comfortable winners but Breadalbane gave it their all with wee Melanie running herself into the ground. Player of the Week was Brooke however for her strong, determined display in midfield.
Later on the same Riverside pitch, Breadalbane FC would face their Jeanfield counterparts as they continued their quest for the first division title. Despite taking an early two goal lead, Breadalbane would be pegged back and eventually found themselves trailing with only minutes remaining. The team showed plenty character to salvage a draw with a late goal. A share of the points probably the right result as both sides had their moments. Breadalbane's destiny is still in their own hands with 4 games remaining. Next Saturday is away to Burrelton.
On Sunday, our youngest teams were at Bertha Park once again. At the PKYFA Fun4s Cooper, Harry, Bailey & Charlie worked together brilliantly and must've hit the woodwork a dozen times in one of the matches. Our other team had some great goals from JJ and Leona who was everywhere on the pitch when needed. Iustin showed us some fantastic celebrations.
We had two teams at the Super5s also. Cat, Callum & Cameron all had turns in goals and made some great saves. Outfield Cameron was great at getting back to defend and pressing forward also with Mylo & Callum in support.
In the other team, Nairn aka 'Big G' was brilliant in goals. Ivan and Finlay were solid in defence while Evie was all over the pitch linking up with Max who was always available.
This week's Players of the Day were Matthew and Nairn. Mathew with his growing confidence made some well timed tackles while the saves from 'Big G' were outstanding.
At Breadalbane Community Campus a close contest against Stanley 2011s ended in a draw for our 2012s. Three really well worked goals for Breadalbane who moved the ball well. Great teamwork and commitment from start to finish. Player of the Week went to Mylo, who made some crucial saves in the second half.
While that was taking place on the 3G pitch, the 2013s faced Letham Community Sports Club - Letham FC at Home St. A slow start saw the home team improve as the match progressed. Well done to Ethan and Oliver who shared goalkeeping duties. Breadalbane looked a threat anytime they worked the ball wide with accurate passing. Good to see communication from the players as they helped each other on the pitch. Wilf was Player of the Week, because of his consistency in both attack and defence.
The 2014s were in action in Perth against......yes, Jeanfield. It proved to be a game of two halves with players taking some time to play in new positions. The team finished the game strongly and gave it their all. Ethan did well in defence, Cubby scored a great goal and Liam looked accomplished on his debut. Coach Kemp chose Max as the Player of the Week for his tireless effort - his attitude is spot on every week. Well done team.
The 2015s had a fun away game at Luncarty. Congratulations to Jayden who received player of the week for working hard and keeping a cool head. Some super saves from Cormac in goals and great defensive work by Jamie H too.
Arguably, the best performance of the weekend was saved until last as the U14s produced a dominant display against Jeanfield 2011s to win 9-0. Awareness, moving the ball quickly, playing at a high tempo were all on display.
In fairness, Jeanfield did not have the luxury of being able to make regular substations and full credit to them for their work rate and competing till the final whistle.
A solid defensive display ensured a clean sheet while the close control of Finlay D and Isaac tormented the visitors throughout. The quality of crosses delivered from Finn was exceptional. Player of the match could have been any number players but Ru got the nod for his reading of the game and timely interceptions.
A cracking weekend of football and a big thanks to all our Coaches and Parents who must clock up more miles than any other Club.
It was also a busy week for our Coaches on SFA Coaching Courses. Simmy (2014s) gained his Children's Coaching Certificate while Dave (U10 Girls), Poodle & Jonathan (U14 Girls) all completed the Intro to Coaching. Top work.
Good luck to our 2009s who travel to Scone Thistle Community Club on Tuesday evening in the League Cup Semi final. Coach Callaghan has almost a full squad at his disposal.
