Weekly Wrap

28/04/2024

It was a busy weekend of fixtures for all our teams with the exception of the 2013s whose opposition were unable to play.

On Saturday morning the U10 Girls kicked off their new block of fixtures in Kirkcaldy. The match with Raith Rovers Rebels was played in the right spirit with some lovely flowing football. Well done to Zosia for a great defensive performance first half and then a string of fearless saves taking over in goal in the 2nd half earning her the player of the week.

The U14 Girls were also on their travels playing Dusc 1984 Girls Section for their first match in the East Region U14 Lucy Hope league. Despite losing 6-2, the Girls created plenty chances in an evenly matched game. Having a depleted squad meant all 11 players had to put a shift in which they did, to their credit.

Great to see Ellie return from her knee injury.  Lexie caused the opposition all sorts of problems out wide but Player of the Week went to Heidi for her performance in goal.

On Saturday afternoon at Home St,  Breadalbane FC Amateurs booked their second Cup final appearance with a 4-2 win over Stanley in the North Perthshire Cup. Despite enjoying the bulk of possession, the home side's play lacked urgency at times and they passed up some good chances before late goals from Wilson & MacKinnon settled the tie.

On Sunday, we were able to sent two Fun4s teams and two Super5s teams to the PKYFA fun festival in Perth with lots of new faces making their debuts. Some great football played by the Neymars who are really coming together as a team under the watchful guidance of Coach Sean. Some resolute defending by Cooper backed up by Harry and Jack with Josip showing some great skills.

Coach Annette looked after the Ronaldos where Charlie is now really settling in and played some great football with Bailey and Iustin. Leona was on form as ever scoring some cracking goals ⚽ while Katy made a brilliant debut.

What a turn out for the  Super5s! Coaches Julie & Shane looked after one group whose teamwork was excellent with some brilliant passing. Callum and Finlay showed some great defensive work at the back and still managed some goals while Max, Evie and Cat were great in attack. Player of the day went to Evie, for excellent attacking, passing and being a great  team player.

Coach Squeak looked after the other team and he's was quick to praise the great link up play on display. Everyone looked comfortable on the ball. New signing Matthew's confidence grew with every game. Cameron, Mylo & Nairn took  turns in goals with some great saves and Ivan's tricky dribbling produced some fantastic goals.

Player of the day was Mylo for his attitude and confidence on the ball and taking a turn in goals.

While the Fun4s and Super5s were in action at Perth, the rest of our teams were busy here at home.

The U12s produced an excellent display against Scone Thistle 2012s which was full of commitment, good decision making and some clinical finishing. Goals were a mixture of great team play, and individual brilliance. Lots of  encouraging individual performances but the big positive for the Coaches was the team spirit on display with players supporting each other and encouraging when things didn’t go as planned. Player of the match goes to Roddy for setting the mark high from the start, and sterling play throughout. Well done team!

Next up at Breadalbane Community Campus were the 2015s vs Letham Athletico with another great turn out and large squad

The boys played well and really came alive more in the 2nd and 3rd periods. Great work from our newest player Finnegan who got stuck right in. There were some great goals and some cracking saves from both teams. Player of the match was Arthur for good use of space, nice passes and great listening . Well done to all the boys on a drizzly wet Sunday.

Nearby at Ballinluig, the 2014s found the going tough against a highly rated Fair City Junior FC side. Boys deserve huge credit for fighting and trying to play football the right way and they did create some goal scoring chances. Well done to Max for playing in goals and he had some outstanding saves. Onwards and upwards for the Players, Parents and Coaches. A huge well done to Jack on his Player of the Week award.

The weather was just as cold and wet at Home St where it really was a game of two halves for the 2010s. A sluggish first half saw them trail visitors Fair City by a goal.

A different team emerged after the break however - passing was quicker, more fight and better communication throughout the team. Five well worked goals were created without reply with a lively Finlay D involved in many, converting the last from the penalty spot. Player of the Match was Cameron for his reading of the game and some timely tackles.

Last up were the U15s who faced league leaders St Andrews Colts. Coaches and players were determined to show that the 5-1 defeat in the previous encounter between the sides away from home was not a fair reflection of the play that day.

A disastrous start saw the team concede in the first few minutes, worryingly from a straightforward long ball. The boys dug deep however and quickly grew into the game. Despite creating plenty chances it would take until the start of the second half for the equaliser. A brilliantly worked goal which Ben smashed home after a neat pass from Aaron. A quick fire double with from Emil and Paddy with 15 minutes remaining would be enough to secure the points. Every single player should be proud of their performance and the character they showed to turn things round. The team will go into this evenings away trip to Fair City full of confidence before the small matter of a League Cup Semi final a week on Tuesday away to Scone Thistle Community Club.
