Even the Arctic conditions could not stop every single Breadalbane team from producing eye catching performances over the weekend. ⚽
First-up on Saturday morning, the U10 Girls travelled in large numbers to face Dundee West. The visitors coped well with the pace of Dundee's attack. Highlight of the match was a van Basten replica finish from live wire Zosia. A difficult choice for Coaches Kris & Dave to single out a player of the match given such an impressive team performance but Cayla got the nod for an all round faultless display.
Meanwhile at Home St, the Amateurs stamped their authority back on the Perthshire 1st division title race with a ruthless 7-0 dismantling of Burrelton. MacKinnon's brutal overhead kick crashing in of the underside of the bar was the pick of some fine goals. On the evidence of this performance, it looks as though Breadalbane may well and truly have woken from their customary winter slumber.
Two Fun4s teams and a Super5s team braved the cold on Sunday and produced their own thrilling performances at Bertha Park.
Cat, Leona, JJ, Iustin and Ivy found plenty goals on the 3G despite the odd injury while on the grass pitches Harry, Cooper, Jack, Bailey and Josip all did a great job.
The Super 5s suffered a set back in the very first game when they lost Callum to illness. The team rallied and were involved in lots of close matches with some neat link-up play providing lots of quality goals. Cameron earned Player of the Week.
The 2015s were at Blairgowrie this week with another fantastic turnout as they continue to get used to the 7 aside format. Well worked goals and a more coherent display was the verdict of the Coaches. Riley got Player of the Week for his positive performance and accurate passing.
At Mid-Atholl Recreation Park, Ballinluig, the 2014s entertained a strong Blairgowrie team. The boys did the new management duo of Kempy and Simmy proud with a tireless display full of enthusiasm and energy in a high scoring thriller.
There were star performances all over the pitch, not least Kipras with an impressive goal haul but Player of the Match went to Jacob for his reading of the game in defense and how he helped the new players settle in.
Ellie, who was always looking to take players on, led the way for the 2013s with her Player of the Match performance as the team continues to improve. Using width when in possession whilst everyone working hard to win the ball back when out of possession had Coaches Matthijs and Andy more than happy with the team's performance.
Breadalbane Community Campus was the venue for the 2012s 9aside match versus Pitfour. The home side played the ball out well from the back and there was a real eagerness from players to get into the opposition box when counter attacking which led to some well worked goals. At the other end of the pitch, a solid defensive display earned Brooklyn the Player of the Match award. Speedy recovery to Ryan who took a sore one to the ankle late-on.
As that game was being played, the 2010s were busy at Scone Thistle Community Club coming out on top 8-5 in a high scoring affair. The U14 team were dealt a real blow midweek when keeper Joel suffered a suspected fractured elbow in training. Thankfully the injury is not as bad as first thought but severe enough that he will be sidelined for a few weeks.
As usual, it fell to the 2009s to bring the curtain down on the weekend's football as they entertained Dundee United Social Club in the U15s league for this eagerly anticipated match.
It was the visitors who broke the stalemate mid-way through the second half when they were allowed time and space on the edge of the box at a corner to fire the ball home. The visitors celebrations would prove short lived as Emil replied a few minutes later. A trade mark surging run from midfield ended with a deflected shot high into the net. Two strong sides and a share of the points probably a fair reflection of the game.
A big thank you to all our parents and supporters for the sacrifices they make each week in getting players to matches and their fantastic backing especially this weekend on Mother's Day.
