Weekly wrap

On Saturday 2nd March Breadalbane Amateurs match at Home St started with a minutes applause to mark the very sad passing of Kenny Robertson.

Kenny was a true gentleman, one of Aberfeldy's real characters who played a pivotal role in the development of both Breadalbane Football Club and the very first Youth teams. First and foremost, he was a family man and the Club's thoughts are with sons Kenneth, Duncan, Iain and the rest of the family.

The 1st XI provided a fitting tribute  with a 5-2 win over Alyth thanks to a strong showing in the first half and the closing stages. Kenny would have approved of the performance but certainly would not have minced his words about the 20 minute spell at the start of the second half where the team went missing allowing Alyth back into the game before a well drilled free kick from Murray Childs settled the nerves.

Congratulations to Ellie Dow on winning the Scratchcard.

The weekend also saw the return to football of our small-sided teams which meant all 11 of our youth teams were in action.

Great to see so many new faces make their debuts across a lot of our teams. At Davie Park the U10 Girls enjoyed a good tussle against Blairgowrie & Rattray Community Football Club

While our U14 Girls had to venture to deepest, darkest Fife to face a very useful Dunfermline side. They were outclassed in the first half but the Bravehearts stuck to their task in the second and were rewarded with a couple of goals down to sheer perseverance.

On Sunday, our two youngest teams were unleashed at the PKYFA Fun4s Festival in Perth. Quite a sight to see them all swarming the ball in attack formation.

Our Super 5s were also down at the festival in Perth and they have been busy in the transfer market. New signings Frank and Ivan both made impressive debuts with Ivan earning player of the week.

On Sunday our 2015s and 2014s both hosted Fair City Junior FC teams for 7 aside matches at Home St.

Coaches Tyler and Jane had their hands full with a large squad for the 2015s. The team finished the match strongly with a couple of cracking goals. Adomas earned Player of the Match for his performance.

The 2014s faced a tough work out but created plenty well worked chances in the second half. The team welcomed new players Luke and Jack while Arran earned Player of the Week for his tireless performance.

Our U11s were on their travels to face Bridge of Earn FC 2013’s and turned in a good performance with Matthijs pleased at how well the team kept their shape. Lots of eye catching displays but Wilf just never stopped going and was voted Player of the Match. ⚽

The 2012s took a large squad to Luncarty which bodes well for when they move up to 11 aside. Two very evenly matched teams but the home side proving better at converting their chances in front of goal.

Great to see Milo make an impressive debut and well done to Dougie in his tireless Player of the Match performance.

The U14s came out on top 7-5 in an end-to-end game away at Auchterarder. A nail biting finish saw Finn grab the final goal on his way to a hatrick ⚽⚽⚽ and Player of the Match.

While that was happening, the U15s were involved in their own tense League Cup match with Fair City at Breadalbane Community Campus. Callaghan's Boys have been putting in some real shifts at training while probably not getting the rub of the green in recent matches. Great to see that turn a little as they booked their spot in the next round with a hard working display and 4-3 win in front of a large home crowd.
